Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Why Menifee Homeowners Choose DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning
DuraFlex chimney cleaning is service we provide as an independent specialist, not as a manufacturer-authorized shop. We’ve swept and repaired hundreds of DuraFlex prefab and reline systems across the Menifee valley, so we know how these stainless liners, tees, and terminations actually wear under real wood and gas use, not just how they look new. Because we’re independent, we diagnose DuraFlex failures on their own merits and repair what’s serviceable instead of pushing a full replacement. If your liner still has life in it, we’ll say so. If it doesn’t, we’ll show you the camera footage that proves it. Call (866) 538-1538 for a free estimate.
Why Trust Chimney Sweep Menifee for Your DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning?
Most sweeps in Menifee will clean any stainless liner they come across. Far fewer can tell you whether your DuraFlex insulation wrap has compressed, whether your top plate fasteners are about to fail, or whether that tee connection at the smoke chamber is the reason your draft went soft. That’s the difference. Noel Caffrey, our owner, grew up in the Audie Murphy Ranch area back when half the streets were still graded dirt. He knows this valley’s housing stock, the tract homes, the older ranch styles, the fireplaces that were built fast and are showing it now. After the HVAC and sheet metal program at Mt. San Jacinto College, he spent years applying that foundation exclusively to chimney cleaning, relining, and inspection work across the Inland Valley. His oldest daughter finally convinced him to stop writing job notes on paper receipts and put his explanations somewhere people could actually read them. This page is that.
We specify DuraFlex because the liner system is only as good as the installation around it. Too many DuraFlex failures we see in Menifee aren’t liner failures at all. They’re top plate failures, cap failures, insulation wrap failures. A sweep who knows the system can spot those before they turn into a full reline. That’s what we do. As an independent DuraFlex service provider, we’re not obligated to sell you anything the manufacturer wants to move. We’re obligated to tell you what the flue camera shows.

Common DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning Problems We Fix in Menifee
- Flexible liner seams loosening at the tee and elbow connections. On DuraFlex SS flexible liner kits (both 316L and 304 alloy), the stainless corrugations are tough, but the connections aren’t welded. They’re mechanical. Years of heating and cooling cycles, plus the Santa Ana winds rattling the termination, work those connections loose. We regularly find soot staining behind the tee at the smoke chamber on older DuraFlex reline kits. That’s where creosote and moisture migrate behind the liner, and it’s a fix that’s a lot cheaper caught early than a full liner replacement later.
- Corroded top plate and cap fasteners letting water in at the crown. Menifee’s summer sun bakes everything on the roof. DuraFlex top plates and cap terminations use stainless fasteners, but the surrounding crown, bracket points, and caulking degrade. When those fasteners work loose from wind and heat cycling, water runs down alongside the liner. On one Menifee home with a DuraFlex reline, our tech found the top plate and cap fasteners corroded and loose, letting water run down alongside an insulated stainless liner that was otherwise sound. We pulled and inspected the liner per a Level 2, cleaned heavy glazed creosote off the flue, reseated a fresh top plate and cap, and sealed the crown so the owner kept their existing liner instead of paying for a full reline.
- Compressed or torn insulation wrap after a sweep. DuraFlex Insulation Wrap is designed to protect the liner’s clearance rating. But during routine sweeps by techs who don’t know the system, the wrap gets snagged, compressed, or torn. Once it’s compromised, the liner’s clearance protection degrades. If your chimney can’t tell me it’s in trouble, the creosote usually will. In Menifee, where fireplaces see shorter but hotter burn seasons, we often find the wrap intact on the vertical run but compressed at the offset points. We inspect the wrap with every sweep and tell you honestly if it needs replacement.
- Tee and elbow connections sooting up or offsetting after years of wood burning. The DuraFlex tee where the liner connects to the appliance is the workhorse of the system. On wood burning applications, that’s where creosote loads up first. Heavy glazed creosote at the tee doesn’t just restrict draft. It hides the connection condition underneath. We clean with rotary systems on heavy buildup so we can actually see the connection integrity once the glaze is off. That’s standard for us, not an upgrade.
- Wind-driven debris packed into caps during Santa Ana season. Menifee’s dry, windy fall pushes dust, leaves, and sometimes whole bird nests into flue terminations. On older Sun City and 1980s tracts, many original caps have degraded after decades of summer sun. We regularly find flues that haven’t seen a fire in months packed with debris at the cap level. A DuraFlex cap that’s bent, rusted through, or missing fasteners won’t stop any of that. That’s why pre-winter inspections matter so much here, not because of heavy snowfall, but because of wind season right before the first cold snap.
DuraFlex Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach
We fit DuraFlex-compatible stainless liners, top plates, and caps from quality aftermarket suppliers that meet the same specs. Reuse sound OEM components where they’re still serviceable. That’s the honest part. A worn cap on an otherwise healthy DuraFlex liner doesn’t mean a full reline. It means a cap replacement. A torn insulation wrap doesn’t mean a new liner system. It means new wrap, properly installed. We won’t sell a full reline when the real problem is a failed top plate, a corroded cap, or a worn tee connection. But we’ll tell you straight when a liner is past saving. Creosote that’s glazed thick enough to crack the liner, pitting through the stainless, separation at the seams you can see with a light behind it, those are replacement conditions. We’ll show you the camera footage before we ask for a dollar. Call (866) 538-1538 and we’ll walk you through what we’re seeing.
Our DuraFlex Service Process – Step by Step
- 1
Visual assessment and Level 2 inspection points. We start with the exterior. Top plate, cap, crown condition, fastener tightness. Then the interior. We look at the tee, the elbow, the insulation wrap at the offsets. For DuraFlex systems, we pay special attention to connection points, because that’s where the failures actually happen in Menifee’s heat cycling climate.
- 2
Creosote removal with the right tooling for the buildup. Light flaky creosote gets standard brushes. Heavy or glazed creosote, which we see a lot of in wood burners used intensely during winter cold snaps and ignored the rest of the year, gets rotary cleaning. We don’t beat on your liner with the wrong tool.
- 3
Damage diagnosis and repair or replace recommendation. This is where the camera report comes in. You see what we see. If it’s repairable, we quote the repair. If it’s a full reline, we show you why. No drama, no upsell.
- 4
Repair or install with proper sealing and connection work. New top plates get sealed correctly to the crown. Caps get proper fasteners. Insulation wrap gets installed without compressing. Connections get secured so they stay secured through the next twenty years of heat cycles and Santa Anas.
- 5
Draft test and final report. We do a smoke test to confirm draft from the appliance up through the termination. Then we leave you a written report with photos of what we found and what we did.
- 6
Warranty period and follow up. We stand behind the work, period. If something isn’t right, we come back.

We Also Service These Brands
DuraFlex is a big part of what we do in Menifee, but it’s not the whole job. We also work with HeatShield chimney resurfacing systems, which can extend flue life without a full liner replacement, and Gelco chimney caps, which we specify for their real weathering performance. One call covers sweep, repair, and dryer vent cleaning.
FAQs – DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning Service in Menifee
No. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider. We’re not authorized by or affiliated with the manufacturer. What we are is experienced with their products, honest about their failure modes, and free to tell you when a repair is smarter than a replacement. That independence is exactly why we can diagnose on merit instead of on a sales quota.
We reuse sound OEM components where they’re still serviceable, and we fit DuraFlex-compatible stainless liners, top plates, and caps from quality aftermarket suppliers that meet the same specs. If a sound OEM top plate is still good, we’ll reseat it before we sell you a new one. If it’s corroded through, we’ll replace it with a quality aftermarket part. You’ll always know exactly what’s going into your flue.
Most standard DuraFlex chimney cleanings take one to two hours on site. If we’re doing a Level 2 inspection, creosote removal, and cap replacement in the same visit, it can run longer. Glazed creosote, which we see often on Menifee wood burners used intensely during winter cold snaps, requires rotary cleaning that takes a little more time. We book service days, not rushed time slots, so we don’t cut corners to get to the next job. Call (866) 538-1538 to book a time that works.
We service and install DuraFlex SS flexible chimney liner kits in both 316L and 304 alloy, DuraFlex Insulation Wrap and insulated liner systems, DuraFlex Reline kits for masonry fireplaces, and DuraFlex cap and top plate terminations. If you’re not sure which system you have, send us a photo and we’ll tell you what we’re looking at before we ever set foot on site.
No. That’s the quickest way to lose a customer, and we’re not built that way. We’ve repaired cap and top plate failures on DuraFlex systems across Menifee and kept the existing liner in place because it was still sound. The field vignette on this page is exactly that scenario. We’ll show you the camera evidence, tell you what’s repairable, and only recommend a reline when the liner itself has failed. Call (866) 538-1538 for an exact quote, estimates are free.
DuraFlex chimney cleaning in Menifee typically runs $189 to $349 depending on the system access, buildup level, and whether it’s a standard sweep or includes rotary cleaning for glazed creosote. Level 2 inspections, which we recommend if you’ve had water intrusion, draft changes, or haven’t used the chimney in years, add to that range. Cap and top plate replacement is quoted separately after we see the condition. Estimates are free. Call (866) 538-1538 and we’ll give you a firm number before work starts.
In most cases, no. Routine chimney cleaning and Level 2 inspection do not void the manufacturer’s warranty, and using quality aftermarket parts that meet the same specs doesn’t void it either. What does damage warranty claims is improper installation and neglect. That’s what we help you avoid. We document everything, photograph the liner condition before and after, and leave you with a record that supports any future warranty conversation with the manufacturer.
